Looking ahead

Discussions have begun on what it looks like to resume meeting together in person. The staff and I have been discussing the requirements from the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina. The Wardens and Vestry will meet this week as well. We don't have a lot of information yet, and nothing has been decided, but I did want to put the requirements from the Diocese in front of you so that you could begin to process what this will look like along with the Vestry and staff.

These are the requirements from the Bishop's office:

  • Communion in one kind (bread only), received in the hand
  • Masks required inside buildings. Those leading worship (celebrant, lay readers, musicians and singers) may remove their masks to exercise their specific roles if adequate distance from parishioners makes this safe.
  • Minimum 6 foot distance between family units and individuals for seating and receiving
  • communion
  • No congregational singing
  • If at all possible, continue online services
  • Sick parishioners must stay at home
  • No separate Children’s Church or Nursery
  • No coffee hour or other group fellowship and classes (remain online)
  • No physical contact (handshakes, hugs, etc…)
  • No passing of the offering plate
  • Maintain social distancing when dismissing the congregation (It may be necessary to dismiss by row/section or use multiple exits)
As you can see, worship will look very different for a season!

I don't have much to add at this time, except we're working to make sure that when we do begin to meet again we are doing everything in our power to keep everybody safe. As always, please reach out with any questions or comments.
